기 때문에 grammar VS 아서/어서 grammar

The meaning of 아서/어서/여서 and 기 때문에 is similar. 아서/어서/여서 is equivalent to so and 기 때문에 is equivalent to because (of) in English. 기 때문에 has stronger feeling/ sense than 아서/어서/여서.

때문에 vs 이라서

Both 때문에 and 이라서 is used to connect two phrases. (이)라서 means because it is (noun). We already learned that 때문에 means so in English. Let’s see some example sentences of (이)라서.

저는 외국인이라서 한국말을 잘 몰라요. I don’t know Korean well because I’m a foreigner.

공항이라서 사람이 많아요. There are a lot of people because of the airport.

기 때문에 cannot be used in imperative (when you are telling someone to do something, and they don’t have a choice.) or propositive sentences (when you are suggesting someone to do something, but they can choose whether they do it or not.)

 when the preceding noun has the final consonant, ‘이기 때문에’ is used. So, ‘휴일’ becomes ‘휴일이기 때문에.’ On the other hand, when the preceding noun does not have the final consonant, either ‘기 때문에’ or ‘이기 때문에’ is used. So, ‘가수’ becomes either ‘가수기 때문에’ or ‘가수이기 때문에.’
