Today we are going to learn 을까요/ ㄹ까요 grammar or (으)ㄹ까요 grammar.
을까요 when it combines with the verb it functions differently from the one which conjugates with adjectives and nouns as well.
을까요 is used to ask for consent to the action you want to do with another person. In this case, it’s commonly used with the word 우리.
shall we go hiking? 하이킹 갈까요?
shall we watch a movie together? 우리 같이 영화 볼까요?
Another use is to ask the other person’s opinion about what you think would be good to do.
제가 창문 좀 열까요? Shall I open the window?
을까요 can be used in front of adjectives and nouns, as well as verbs. 을까요 functions as guessing.
Do you think I can live with that person? 내가 그 사람하고 같이 살 수 있을까요?
This grammar is used to ask for feedback or someone’s opinion or view if he /she wants to do something or not.
을까요/ ㄹ까요 grammar is used after the verb stem and it is used to find out another person’s opinion or to find out another person’s suggestion. For example –
주말에 뭘 할까요? What do you do at the weekend?
우리 영화 볼까요? Shall we watch the movie?

을까요/ ㄹ까요 grammar conjugation
If a verb stem has a final consonant (받침), we have to use 을까요. For example
먹다
After removing 다, the verb 먹다 has ㄱ받침 (ㄱ final consonant) so we have to add 을까요. So 먹다 becomes 먹을까요.
If a verb stem has no final consonant (받침), we have to use ㄹ까요. For example
보다
After removing 다, the verb 보다 has no 받침 (final vowel) so we have to add ㄹ까요. So 보다 becomes 볼까요.
We have to remove 다 from the basic verb.

After removing 다 from basic verb we have to add (으)ㄹ까요. Now these words become

If a verb has final consonant in the form of ㄹ we have to use ㄹ까요. For example-
만들다
After removing 다 from 만들다, the verb has ㄹ consonant at the last, So 만들다 becomes 만들까요.
놀다

보다
Remove 다 from the root word 보다. The remaining part is 보 which has final no final consonant. According to the rule we have to add ㄹ까요. So 보다 becomes 볼까요.
웃다
Remove 다 from the root word. The remaining part is 웃 which has the final consonant in the form of ㅅ. According to the rule we have to add 을까요.so 웃다 becomes 웃을까요.
들다
Remove 다 from the root word. The remaining part is 들 which has final consonant in the form of ㄹ. According to the rule we have to add ㄹ까요. So 들다 becomes 들까요.
가다
Remove 다 from the root word. The remaining part is 가 which has no final consonant at the end. According to the rule we have to add ㄹ까요.so 가다 becomes 갈까요.

밥 먹다 = 우리 내일 같이 밥 먹을까요? Shall we have lunch together tomorrow?
내일 만나다 = 내일 몇시에 만날까요? What time will you meet tomorrow?
을까요/ ㄹ까요 grammar Summary
This grammar is used to find out/know another person’s opinion or suggestion.
If a verb ending has final consonant 을까요 is used. (동사의 어간에 받침이 있으면 을까요 를 붙여서 사용 합니다.)
먹다 = 먹을까요.
If a verb ending has a vowel or final consonant in the form of (ㄹ), we have to user ㄹ까요.
가다 become 갈까요. kpop 콘서트 볼까요? Shall we watch k-pop concert?
보다 + ㄹ까요 = 볼까요.
만들다 becomes 만들까요.
The reply or answer of 을까요/ ㄹ까요 is usually in the form of 아요/ 어요.
Normally 우리 (us) is used as a subject of 을까요/ ㄹ까요 sentence.
